Even as a young boy growing up in northern Germany, Inger Hansen knew that music would be a very important part of his life. It all began at the tender age of 3, when his father brought him to his very first jazz festival. Inger became instantly mesmerized by the sounds around him. He would listen for hours to the rhythms and melodies that reached his ears, completely fascinated by the experience. And that was when Inger’s love of sound began.

As he grew older, Inger was exposed to a wide variety of artists and musical styles. He developed a deep appreciation for the one thing that they all had in common, and this was the power of sound to touch the soul. Inger soon realized that he wanted his future to involve music. Now all he had to do was figure out his place in it all.

Then one day he picked up a guitar and the rest is history. Music came as naturally to Inger as breathing. He taught himself how to play the guitar and soon began writing songs of his own. Still in his teens, Inger joined a number of bands and impressed audiences with his amazing guitar skills and vocal ability.

After finishing high school in Germany, Inger worked at various odd jobs, including driving an ambulance for a short time. Even though he was actually pretty good at staring IV lines and performing CPR, he knew in his heart that he was born to be a musician. So he packed his bags and moved to Holland where he would study music at the prestigious Codarts pop academy in Rotterdam.

While in Rotterdam, Inger became totally immersed in the city’s thriving live music scene, and was a frequent performer at singer/songwriter sessions around the local coffeehouse and club circuit. He soon became involved in a variety of musical projects, ranging from fronting the Holland-based rock band Cropduster, to being the other half of the critically acclaimed acoustic duo the almosts.

Inger quickly acquired a reputation as a very gifted guitarist. He has the ability to almost effortlessly use the guitar strings to convey exactly what is in his heart. “The most important aspect of music for me is sound and the feeling that it awakens in the listener”, he explains. “All my emotions, fears and wishes that I can’t put into words I try to translate into sound.”

Although quite capable of performing diverse musical styles, Inger has recently found his true voice and passion as a solo acoustic artist. His amazing sound is a blend of striking acoustic guitar playing, seductive vocals, and gorgeous melodies.

He draws upon his life experiences to write lyrics that are refreshingly simple yet powerful. Inger’s influences include Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Sting, and Lenny Kravitz, but he has definitely succeeded at creating his very own beautiful signature sound.

Still only at the beginning of his career, Inger’s work is already getting critical acclaim from other artists. He recently shared the stage with famed pianist and composer, Mike Garson (David Bowie). Garson described the 25 year-old as a “very talented singer/songwriter” and was impressed with his performance of “Autumn Sunday Afternoon”. The song features Inger’s smooth and soulful vocals that beautifully express the emotions he feels with each and every note.

Inger also captured the attention of American audiences when he came to the United States for a mini-tour of the East Coast during the fall of 2007. He was the featured artist at such live music clubs as New York City’s The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall and “The Baggot Inn”, as well as at other venues in Connecticut, Boston and Maine. Inger enjoyed the atmosphere and intimacy of these clubs, while audiences got a great opportunity to witness his incredible guitar playing and warm stage presence firsthand.

Now that his musical study in Holland is finished, Inger feels it’s time to take things to the next level. He will continue to seriously pursue his music career with a move to New York City in the summer of 2008.

Inger recently released his debut album For the love of Sound which is available on this website, as well as on iTunes, CDbaby, Amazon, Toonbank Records etc.

Stay tuned for the love of sound!
